Introduce
The World Vegetable Center held its 50th anniversary celebration and the inauguration ceremony of its new experimental building on November 3, 2023. The event attracted ambassadors or representatives from various countries, officials from the Taiwan Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, government agencies, agricultural universities, donor organizations, private seed companies, project partners, and agricultural experts from around the world. Together, they witnessed the efforts and contributions of AVRDC over the past fifty years and celebrated the inauguration of the new experimental building. This new facility will serve as an open scientific center dedicated to becoming a global hub for vegetable research and development. Fully funded by the Taiwan government, the new experimental building and its advanced instrumentation will enable agricultural experts from around the world to conduct research here, focusing on addressing urgent agricultural issues and showcasing the potential of vegetables in nutrition and economics.
